NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Heather Wheat scored 32 points on 11 of 18 shooting to lead IU Southeast over Berea College 66-54 on Tuesday.
The Grenadiers' offense sputtered to open the game. They shot 31 percent from the field (10-32) and committed seven turnovers. Wheat scored 11 points in the first half and IU Southeast trailed 29-25 at the break.
The offense awoke in the second frame. Wheat scored 22 points and the Grenadiers shot 42 percent from the field.
The IU Southeast (11-9, 4-5 KIAC) defense was strong throughout, forcing 19 turnovers. Wheat had five steals and Ashmere Woods and Briana Palmer each had a pair of steals.
Woods also added 14 points and seven rebounds for IU Southeast.
Kaitlynne Smith had 16 points and 13 rebounds for Berea, which dropped to 6-14, 2-5 in KIAC play.
IU Southeast hosts Kentucky Christian on Saturday at 2 p.m.
