Owen's 18 Sends Grenadiers To 72-66 Win

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Andrea Owen scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead IU Southeast to a 72-66 win over Kentucky Christian on Saturday.

Heather Wheat added 15 points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals in the win. Ashmere Woods and Kortney Woods each had 11 points.

The Grenadiers (12-9) led by one at halftime and used a 12-2 run to open up an 11-point lead early in the second half. They were sparked by Owen's three second half three-point field goals.

IU Southeast led by as many as 17 but the Grenadier offense went cold midway through the second half and the Lady Knights outscored the Grenadiers 15-6 to cut the lead to two with 2:27 to play.

The lead stayed between three and six points for IU Southeast for the remainder of the game. Andrea Owen secured the win with an offensive rebound and put-back of a Wheat missed free-throw to give the Grenadiers a 71-66 lead with 13 seconds to play.

Tanya Bowens had 17 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Knights, who dropped to 12-11. Monica Stevens had 13 points and nine rebounds and Sharonda Jones added 11 points.
