Baseball Caps Off Regular Season With Sweep of UC-Clermont

NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The IU Southeast baseball team concluded the regular season with a convincing sweep of UC-Clermont on Sunday.

The Grenadiers (33-16) put game one away with a six-run second inning. Three-straight singles made it 3-0 IU Southeast and then Josh Beams hit a sacrifice fly. Logan Coughlin followed with a two-run home run, his seventh of the year. The Grenadiers led 8-0 after two innings.

IU Southeast had 18 hits in the contest. Every Grenadier who had an at-bat recorded at least one hit for the second-straight game.

Coughlin went 3-for-4 with four RBI in the game. Trent Simpson and Chris Kemp each had two RBI in the win.

In game two, the Grenadiers trailed 2-0 after the top of the first, but responded with a seven-run opening inning. Tyler Adams brought in two runs with a single up the middle. Grant Anderson, Coughlin and Beams each had RBI singles in the inning.

The Grenadiers added four more runs in the second to blow the game open. Nick Pope had a two-run single.

Anderson, Adams, Young and Pope each had two RBI in the win.

The Grenadiers will face Asbury Univesrity to open the KIAC Tournament on Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Kingsport, Tenn.
