WILMORE, Ky. – Another dominant second-half performance from IU Southeast sent the Grenadiers to a win over Asbury University 83-62 on Saturday.
Josie Hockman had a season-high 26 points, including 19 points in the first half to lead IU Southeast. She also added eight rebounds and five assists. Kelsi Scott had 12 points and five rounds and Ariana Sandefur had 10 points.
The Grenadiers (6-1, 2-0 RSC) closed the first half on a 12-6 run to take a 35-29 lead at halftime. Lauren Lambdin and Josie Hockman hit back-to-back three pointers to give the Grenadiers the lead at the break.
In the second half, Asbury (3-8, 0-2 RSC) tied game at 45 with 3:49 left in the third quarter. IU Southeast closed the period on a 14-3 run to put the game away. The Grenadiers outscored Asbury 24-14 in the fourth quarter and led by at least 13 points for the entire fourth quarter.
IU Southeast shot 50 percent from the field in the second half and held Asbury to 33 percent shooting and just 29 percent shooting from behind-the-arc.
The Grenadiers host Georgetown College Monday night at 7 p.m.
