Men's Tennis Drops Matches To Wright State and Georgetown

NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The men's tennis team suffered a 7-0 loss to NCAA Division I opponent Wright State on Friday afternoon. In doubles play the Grenadiers lost all three matches by identical scores of 6-2.

In singles play the two most closely contested matches came at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions with Daulton Fensler and Dane Baldwin both losing their matches 6-4, 6-4.

On Saturday, the men's team took on Georgetown College at home falling 6-3 in a very competitive match. The Grenadiers took a 2-1 lead after doubles play with wins at the No. 2 position from Brock Winchell and Daulton Fensler 8-5. The No. 3 spot of Dane Baldwin and Zach Kelly gave up an early lead but eventually finished off the match by a score of 9-7. At No. 1 doubles Garrett Fensler and Bradley Cross had an opportunity to go up 7-4 but were unable to capitalize and dropped the match 9-8(2). In singles action Bradley Cross and Sam Venter both won their first sets before eventually falling in close 3rd-set tiebreaks. The only singles win the Grenadiers were able to pick up was at No. 6 with Dane Baldwin winning 6-4, 6-4.

Next up will be a trip to Ohio Christian on March 16 before returning home on March 17 against Lindenwood-Belleville.
