CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio – The IU Southeast baseball team extended its winning streak to five games with a doubleheader sweep of Ohio Christian on Friday, 16-0 and 19-2.
In game one, starter Brandon Nylin (6-1) went the distance and scattered seven hits en route to a complete-game shutout. He struck out six and walked a batter.
The game was close in the first five innings before IU Southeast put up five runs in the sixth and seven runs in the seventh.
Nolan Rogers, Josh Beams and Jordan Branz all had RBI singles in the sixth.
In the seventh, RBI singles from Gage Rogers and Richard Rodriguez added to the lead as the Grenadiers kept the line moving via hit batsmen and walks and tacked on seven runs.
Josh Beams had three hits and Rodriguez, Korbin Williams and Nolan Rogers each had two hits.
In game two, the Grenadiers (31-8, 19-2 RSC) broke the game open early with a four-run second inning and a seven-run seventh.
In the second, Jordan Branz hit a two-run double to right to score Cody Maloon and Reyni Olivero. Jordan Branz would score on a wild pitch and Daniel Brescia would reach base on an error and later score on another error.
In the third, Drew Hensley cleared the bases with a three-run double. Daniel Brescia followed with a RBI single and later in the inning Rodriguez added a RBI double.
Trevor Reynolds (5-0) gave up one run on three hits in three innings. He struck out four and walked one.
Richard Rodriguez and Nicholas Lugo each drove in three in the contest.
The Grenadiers outscored Ohio Christian 48-2 in the three-game series.
