NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast softball team swept Lindenwood-Belleville 7-1 and 8-1 on Sunday.
In game one, the Grenadiers opened the game with a three-run first inning. Brooklyn Gibbs led off with a double and scored on a RBI single by Maggie Lubbehusen. Later in the inning, Reecie Gilliam scored from third on a wild pitch and Hannah Ogg hit a RBI single to center to score Kaitlyn Flowers who had walked.
IU Southeast (11-2-1) added a pair of runs in the bottom of the second. Lindsey Nelson led off with a double and scored on a sacrifice fly from Gibbs. Then Kelsey Warman singled to center to score Ashtyn Sharp.
In the third inning, Hannah Ogg tripled to right and scored on a wild throw by the right fielder Hannah Enright.
In the fourth, IU Southeast capped off the scoring when Madeline Probus walked and scored on a RBI triple by Miranda Miller.
Hannah Ogg worked five shutout innings for her fourth win. She allowed two hits and struck out. She also went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI.
In game two, IU Southeast struck first when Graci Cornett singled to score Gibbs who had reached on a walk in the bottom of the first.
The Grenadiers blewo the game open in the bottom of the third with a six-run inning. Probus walked and later scored on a wild pitch. Ellie Jackman and Allison Hayes each hit RBI doubles and Dallas Henderson, Sami Cook and Natalie Schapker all had RBI singles to extend the lead to 7-0.
Madison Wilcox capped off the socring when she tripled and scored on a RBI groundout by Ashlie Ripperdan.
Brooklyn Gibbs moved to 5-0 as she worked four innings and allowed five hits and a run. She struck out two and did not walk a batter.
Dallas Henderson had two hits and a RBI in the win.
IU Southeast hosts St. Mary-of-the-Woods Wednesday at 2 p.m.
