Match Results) - The Indiana University Southeast men's tennis team could not have started its spring season any better. On Friday (3/20), the Grenadiers defeated Berea College 9-0 to remain undefeated in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) with a 2-0 conference record.
Last week, IU Southeast defeated Brescia University 5-4 at the University of Louisville Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. Brescia is currently ranked 2
nd in the region and is the only KIAC team receiving votes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Men's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll. New rankings will be released from the NAIA on Monday, March 23.
The Grenadier men are currently 2-1 overall this season, with their lone loss coming to NCAA Division II Bellarmine University last fall. With Friday's win, IU Southeast claims sole possession of first place in the KIAC men's tennis conference standings.
IU Southeast, under fifth year head coach Yancey Walters, dominated Berea College in doubles play on Friday. The Grenadiers only lost one game in doubles play. The Grenadiers won every set over the visiting Mountaineers to claim the conference victory.
IU Southeast will be back in action on Saturday (3/20) when the team travels to Owensboro, Ky. for a 2 p.m. conference rematch with Brescia University.
