NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The IU Southeast women's basketball team lost a thriller to Purdue Calumet 79-75 in overtime on Saturday afternoon in the Activities Building.
Ashmere Woods had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds and Megan Murphy had another double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Even with the pair's strong performances on the glass, the No. 20 Grenadiers were outrebounded 56-43 in the game. The Peregrines' capitalized, scoring 22 second-chance points to the Grenadiers' 10.
Lindsey Whitcomb lead Purdue-Calumet with 22 points and 11 rebounds as the Peregrines improved to 8-3.
IU Southeast (8-4, 1-0 KIAC) had four out of its five starters score in double figures but late in the game the offense sputtered. The Grenadiers shot 33 percent in the second half and overtime and made only two three-pointers after making eight in the first half. The Grenadiers were only able to muster four points in the overtime period while surrendering eight.
IU Southeast is back in action on Wednesday, December 14 when they host St. Mary-of-the-Woods at 7 p.m.
