NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Linzie Wernert has been named the River States Conference Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week, the RSC announced on Monday.
 
Wernert, a junior form Lanesville, Ind., was sensational in two games for IU Southeast. Wernert averaged 13.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.5 steals, and 0.5 blocks in a pair of Grenadier wins.
 
In a 74-72 win over IU Kokomo, Wernert had 19 points, seven rebounds, four steals, two assists and a block.
 
In an 82-64 win over IU Northwest, Wernert had eight points, 12 rebounds, and a steal.
 
On the season, Wernert is averaging 13.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 1.9 steals. She is shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 39.1 from three.
