NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast women's tennis team posted a pair of 5-0 victories over Carlow University and Berea College to advance to its 15th consecutive KIAC tournament final.
The Grenadiers (11-2) opened tournament play Friday morning against Carlow University. The doubles teams of Katie Walsh/Whitney Batliner dropped the only game of the doubles portion of the match, defeating Amber Phillips/Amanda Capatola 8-1. The second pairing of Ashley Bunch/Katie Morrison defeated Mary Dunbar/Sarah Rupchak 8-0 and the third team of Katherine Clark/Maddie Ikerd dispatched Morgan Orr/Amber Olmstead 8-0.
The Southern Indiana duo of Whitney Batliner (Floyd Central) and Katherine Clark (Jeffersonville) picked up 6-0, 6-0 victories to secure the match.
In the KIAC semifinal match against Berea, the Grenadier doubles teams proved dominant again. Walsh/Batliner defeated Trinity Goodman/Taylor Moyers 8-3, Bunch/Morrison defeated Christine Crawford/Miranda Fawley 8-2 and Clark/Ikerd defeated Kaila Noland/Ashley Logan 8-1.
Batliner once again picked up a singles point as well. She defeated Trinity Goodman 6-0, 6-0 and Maddie Ikerd (Bedford North Lawrence) defeated Miranda Fawley 6-0, 6-0.
IU Southeast will try to win its 15th consecutive KIAC Championship Saturday against No. 2 seed Brescia University at 10 a.m. at IU Southeast.
