NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast men's tennis season ended with a 5-1 loss to Asbury in the KIAC semifinals on Friday afternoon.
The Grenadiers (9-8) kept it close when the No. 2 doubles team of Evan Biesterveld and Tyler Jackson defeated 8-4. IU Southeast trailed 2-1 after the doubles portion of the match.
The IU Southeast No. 1 doubles team of Shane Burke/Jimmy Nungester fell to Nathan Schley/Scott Layton 8-1. No. 3 singles team of Trent Wallace/Stephen Sanders lost 8-3 to Justin Westlund/Daniel Haris.
Nathan Schley clinched the match for the Eagles with at 6-0, 7-5 victory over Shane Burke at No. 1 singles.
The Grenadiers fell to Asbury in the KIAC tournament for the second-straight year. Last season, IU Southeast lost 5-1 to the Eagles in the KIAC championship match.
