WILMORE, Ky. – The IU Southeast women's tennis team advanced to the KIAC Championship with a 5-1 win over host Asbury University on Friday afternoon.
The Grenadiers (8-3) were dominant in doubles action, dropping seven games between the three matches. Whitney Batliner and Dana Frank dispatched Caitlin Conyers and Sarah Beth Alford 8-3. Haley Jones and Katie Morrison won 8-3 over Juleah Morehouse and Alex LoPrinzi. Katie Walsh and Maddie Ikerd breezed past Kara Kaneko and Emily Ross 8-1.
In singles, freshmen Dana Frank and Haley Jones were the difference makers. Frank defeated Kaneko 6-1, 6-1 and Haley Jones defeated Alex LoPrinzi 7-5, 2-6, 6-2 to clinch the match.
Sophomore Whitney Batliner lost 6-4, 6-4 to Caitlin Conyers.
The Grenadiers will face Ashford University at 10 a.m. on Saturday with IU Southeast in search of its 16th-straight KIAC tournament title..
