Grenadiers Roll Past Johnson & Wales 86-72

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast women's basketball team used a 20-8 run to start the second half to pull away from Johnson & Wales (Col.) on Sunday.

Heather Wheat and Mary Dye each had double-doubles on the day. Wheat had 17 points to lead the Grenadiers and added 10 assists. Mary Dye scored 12 points and had 20 rebounds, one shy of tying the single-game record. Megan Cureton added 11 points in the win.

The Grenadiers' bench dominated play for the entire game, outscoring the Wildcats 39-5. Katie Slavey and Tori Kingsley each had nine points and Jade Spaulding chipped in with eight off the bench.

The game was tight throughout much of the first half, before the Grenadiers were able to extend the lead to double digits at 43-33 on a Katie Slavey three with 1:14 remaining in the first half. The Grenadiers (6-3) did not look back from there as they dominated the first 10 minutes of the second half to pull away from the Wildcats.

The Grenadiers open KIAC play on Dec. 6 at Alice Lloyd College.
