Grenadiers Split Doubleheader With Indiana Tech

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast baseball team dropped the first game of its doubleheader to Indiana Tech 7-6 before roaring back to take game two 17-6 on Sunday.

The Grenadiers (9-8) came back from a 6-0 deficit and tied the game 6-6 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Indiana Tech was able to scratch out a run in the top of the seventh inning which proved to be the game winner.

Frank Pluskota went four-for-four in a losing effort.

In game two, the Grenadiers' offense dominated, scoring at least three runs in each of the first four innings.

IU Southeast got on the board quickly with a five-run first inning with four of those runs coming with two outs. Marcus Howard scored after Brian Crider hit into a double play, then Louis Helmburg doubled, scoring Kyle Rupe. Tyler Adams singled to score Rupe and Jarret Young doubled to bring in Adams and Josh Beams.

Adams went four-for-four and had six RBI on the day. Crider, Rupe and Howard each had multi-hit games for IU Southeast. Mason Lingafelter picked up his second win of the season in relief of Mark Downs.

The Grenadiers are back in action on Monday night when they host Hanover at 6 p.m.
