Grenadiers Edge Hanover 8-5

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast baseball team picked up its second-straight win with an 8-5 defeat of Hanover College on Monday night.

Frank Pluskota hit his first home run of the season to open the scoring for IU Southeast in the bottom of the first and the Grenadiers' offense was off and running.

IU Southeast (10-8) added two more runs in the second when Marcus Howard tripled to score Jarret Young and Alex Potter to make it 4-2 Grenadiers.

After Hanover cut the lead to 4-3 in the top of the third, the Grenadiers responded with a three-run inning. After Pluskota walked and Louis Helmburg doubled, Kyle Asher singled to left to plate the pair. Jake Roberts singled home Asher and it was 7-3.

The Grenadiers added one more run in the fourth. Josh Beams tripled and Pluskota singled for his third RBI of the game.

Pluskota finished two-for-three with three RBI and two runs scored. Josh Beams went two-for-four as did Kyle Asher.

Patrick Yochum picked up his first win of the season in four innings of relief. He struck out two and gave up one hit. Mitch Hunnicutt took the loss for the Panthers, who dropped to 2-6.

IU Southeast hosts No. 23-ranked Georgetown College tomorrow at 3 p.m.
