IU Southeast Baseball Splits Doubleheader On Senior Day

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast baseball team split a doubleheader with Berea College on Senior Day with the seniors playing a key role.

The Grenadiers dropped game one 6-5 before picking up a 7-3 win in game two.

IU Southeast fell behind 4-2 in game before tying the game in the bottom of the third. Berea would take the lead back on a solo home run by Austin Hunt and the Mountaineers would add another in the top of the sixth.

IU Southeast would rally for one run in the bottom of the inning before Brad Walker was thrown out at the plate trying to tie the game.

Mason Lingafelter (3-4) took the loss. He worked five and a third innings and gave up six runs on eight hits and struck out two.

Frank Pluskota went 3-for3 on Senior Day, scored a run and grabbed his fifth stolen base of the season.

In game two, the Grenadiers trailed 1-0 before scoring five unanswered runs in the fourth and fifth innings.

Senior shortstop Alex Potter hit his first home run of the year tie the game. Later in the inning, Tyler Adams tripled to score Brian Crider and Jarret Young who had reached on a pair of singles.

Alex Potter came through again in the fifth. He hit a double to right to score Kyle Rupe. Josh Beams would sacrifice bunt to allow Pluskota to score.

Potter and Pluskota each went 2-for-4 with two RBI and scored a run.

Jacob Holtz (3-1) got the win in five and two-thirds innings of work. He gave up three runs on eight hits and struck out five for his third win of the year.

IU Southeast hosts Miami-Hamilton Sunday at 2 p.m.
