KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The 2014 IU Southeast baseball season came to an end on Saturday with a 3-1 loss to Point Park University in the KIAC Championship.

Point Park jumped out to an early in the bottom of the first after a single by Oscar Romero allowed Yuliecer Arias to score.

The Grenadiers tied the game in the top of the fifth when Marcus Howard scored on a wild pitch.

Evan Bickett had a solid game, working six innings and surrendering eight hits and two runs. He struck out four and walked one batter.

Point Park scored one run in each of the seventh and eighth innings. In the seventh, they hit three straight singles which scored Shane Conley.

The Grenadiers' offense was stymied by Alex Mateo, who gave up one run on six hits in a complete-game win.

Marcus Howard went 1-for-4 and scored a run in the loss.

IU Southeast finishes the year at 32-23. The 32 victories are the Grenadiers' highest win total since they won 38 games in 2011 and won the KIAC regular season and tournament titles.
