Grenadiers Ground Eagles 67-56

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast women's basketball team led by as many as 22 and the Grenadiers never trailed as they defeated Cincinnati Christian 67-56 on Friday night.

Heather Wheat had a huge game, scoring 19 points with eight assists, six rebounds and four steals. Mary Dye had 18 points and 11 rebounds and Megan Cureton added 15 points, four assists and four steals.

The Grenadiers (18-11, 8-6 KIAC) forced 12 first-half turnovers and scored 15 points off the miscues to open up a double-digit lead.

IU Southeast opened the game on an 11-0 run and held the Eagles scoreless until the game was six minutes old.

The Grenadiers led 39-21 at halftime. IU Southeast held CCU to just 27 percent shooting (8-of-30) in the first half. The Eagles were 2-of-10 from three-point range.

CCU opened the second half on a 21-9 run and cut the lead to 48-44 with 9:30 minutes left in the game. The Grenadiers responded with a 12-2 run of their own and put the game away.

IU Southeast hosts Midway on Senior Day Saturday at 1 p.m. If campus is closed Saturday due to inclement weather, the game will be postponed until Sunday with a tipoff time to be announced. Check iusathletics.com and follow us on Twitter for updates as they become available.
