OWENSBORO, Ky. -The Grenadiers fell 5-1 in the KIAC Championship matchh against Asbury. Nick Roby and Jacob Rankin had a big 8-6 win at number one doubles but the Eagles took a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play.
The match was played indoors on three courts so the top three positions took the court and the Grenadiers were unable to pull out any of those matches despite a very strong effort by Jonathan James at the number two position against Scott Layton. After falling at number one and three singles Bryson Mills and Jacob Rankin were able to take the court but did not finish their matches due to Asbury clinching the match at the number two singles position. "Its been a very tough season mentally and physically but I am very pleased with the teams effort and determination throughout, we just came up a bit short against a better team today," head coach Joe Epkey said. "I want to thank all of our parents and fans that came out all season long and supported us it is greatly appreciated." The Grenadiers will look to contend again next year as they are returning their entire roster for next season.
