NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The IU Southeast men's tennis team picked up a pair of wins over Bellarmine and Oakland City on Saturday.
The Grenadiers got out to a hot start for the second consecutive match winning at the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles spots giving themselves a 2-1 lead heading into singles action.
In singles play,Bryson Mills and Daulton Fensler picked up straight set wins at No. 4 and No. 6 singles. Freshman Garrett Fensler clinched the match with a three-set win at no. 3 singles 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 which put the Grenadiers up 5-2.. Jonathan James fell in a close 6-4, 6-3 match at the No. 1 position while Brock Winchell and Chris Braun dropped close three set matches.
The Grenadiers were 0-11 against Bellarmine dating back to 2006.
In the second match of the day the Grenadiers swept Oakland City 9-0 giving them a dual record of 4-0 this fall season.
Next up is the individual RSC Tournament in Wilmore, Ky. on Friday and Saturday.
