Reel Earns His 300th Win As Grenadiers Defeat Campbellsville

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The IU Southeast baseball team pushed its winning streak to six games and head coach Ben Reel picked up his 300th career win as IU Southeast defeated Campbellsville 3-2 on Thursday.

The Grenadiers (19-7) had the bases loaded in the top of the second inning with one out and Zach Reboulet came through with an RBI single to open the scoring.

Campbellsville (18-12) answered in the bottom of the inning when Kirby Broadbent tied the game on a RBI groundout.

The Tigers took the lead in the bottom of the third when Clay Valenzuela-Reece scored on an RBI single from Brett Hamilton.

The Grenadiers took the lead for good in the next inning. Zach Reboulet started a two-out rally with a single. Kyle Goodman and Richard Rodriguez drew back-to-back walks to load the bases. A balk and wild pitch by starter Ray Fernandez brought in Reboulet and Rodriguez and gave the Grenadiers the lead.

The Grenadier bullpen allowed just three hits in the final six innings of the contest. Alex Schoettmer got the win in relief of starter Jordan Thompson. Schoettmer worked three innings, allowed two hits and struck out one.

Gage Rogers earned his sixth save by working a clean ninth inning.

Zach Reboulet and Cody Maloon each had two hits in the win for IU Southeast.

IU Southeast hosts Brescia University on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's doubleheader begins at 1 p.m. and Sunday's will begin at 2 p.m.
