Men's Tennis Drops Final Fall Match To Bellarmine

NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The IU Southeast men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Bellarmine on Monday afternoon. The Grenadiers started slowly in doubles play trailing at all three positions before turning things around at No. 2 doubles with Bradley Cross and Daulton Fensler prevailing 8-6. The No. 1 doubles pairing of Garrett Fensler and TJ Brady trailed 7-4 before winning the next two games but their comeback fell short losing 8-6. Sam Venter and partner Jerid Inman trailed 4-0 early before fighting back and getting the match tied at 7-7 but fell 9-7.

Trailing 2-1 after doubles play the Grenadiers needed to win four of the six singles matches. TJ Brady was the first off the court with a strong showing winning 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Jerid Inman also made quick work of his opponent winning 6-1,6-2 at the #6 spot. IU Southeast held a brief 3-2 lead in the match before dropping the remaining 4 singles matches losing by a score of 3-6. Bradley Cross had a very close match losing his first set 6-1 but fought back taking the second set 6-2, he was leading 9-6 in the third set tiebreak before falling 11-9.

The Grenadiers wrap up the fall season with a 1-2 dual match record. They will be back in action on February 23rd against Campbellsville at the Southern Indiana Tennis Center.
