NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Every Grenadier scored and four scored in double figures as IU Southeast defeated Fisk University 100-54 Saturday.
Baylee Krueger had a game-high 16 points and six blocks for the Grenadiers. Josie Woods had 12 points, Kirstie Henn had 11 and Aaliyah Bell added 10.
The swarming pressure of the IU Southeast defense caused 27 turnovers which led to 28 IU Southeast points. Josie Hockman and Madi Woods each had three steals to lead the Grenadiers.
IU Southeast stifled the Bulldogs' offense and did not allow Fisk to break 50 points until under five minutes remained in the contest.
IU Southeast led 39-24 at halftime behind the play of Krueger who had eight points in the first half. Ariana Sandefur and Kirstie Henn each had six points in the opening 20 minutes.
The Grenadiers (1-0) put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 30-15. IU Southeast opened the second half on a 21-6 run to pull away.
IU Southeast shot a sizzling 59.5 percent in the second half and 49 percent for the game. The Grenadiers outscored the Thunderhawks 44-24 in the paint in the contest and got easy baskets off of 22 steals.
The Grenadiers travel to St. Mary-of-the Woods Tuesday at 7 p.m.
