MUNCIE, Ind. - The IU Southeast men's tennis team took on some tough competition heading to NCAA Division I opponent Ball State on Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader. In the first match the No. 1 doubles team of Garrett Fensler and Bradley Cross were able to pull out the Grenadiers' lone win on the day in a tiebreaker 7-6(5).
Ball State took all singles matches in straight sets but the Grenadiers put up a fight dropping a handful of sets by a score of 6-3 or 6-4. With all lineup comprised of all underclassman the Grenadiers were able to get some great experience playing against a well-rounded Division I program. IU Southeast takes on more tough competition this Saturday at 5 p.m. when IU Southeast faces No. 4-ranked Campbellsville at 5 p.m. at the Southern Indiana Tennis Center.
"We are still experimenting with our doubles lineups and the guys are working hard to improve everyday," head coach Joe Epkey said. " It was great to get out and compete against a high level team to start off our spring season and we are very excited to see what our group of guys can accomplish this season."
