COLUMBIA, Ky. – The IU Southeast baseball team jumped out to an 8-1 lead on Tuesday defeated the host Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders 8-4.

The Grenadiers (22-7) opened the scoring in the second inning when Nicholas Lugo led off the inning with his fourth home run of the season to left. Cody Maloon was hit by a pitch and later scored on a double from Brody Tanksley. Jordan Branz followed with a RBI single to center.

Richard Rodriguez led off the third inning with a home run to center, his second of the season.

IU Southeast would add four more runs in the sixth to blow the game open. Brody Tanksley started the inning with a single and then Branz came through again, this time with a RBI double. Later, Rodriguez hit a two-run single and Korbin Williams followed with a sacrifice fly.

Jack Drew (1-1) got the win in three and a third innings of relief.

Richard Rodriguez had three hits and three RBI and Tanksley had three hits and two RBI in the win. Josh Beams, Nicholas Lugo and Jordan Branz each added two hits.

IU Southeast hosts Brescia University for a three-game series this weekend.
