VERSAILLES, Ky. – The IU Southeast baseball team clinched the River States Conference regular season championship with a 9-3 win over Midway on Saturday.

The Grenadiers (37-10, 23-4 RSC) jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead after the top of the first. Nicholas Lugo opened the scoring with a three-run home run to left for his eighth home run of the season.

Nolan Rogers followed with a single and Korbin Williams hit his fourth home run of the season to left.

Midway (24-22, 15-11 RSC) got a run back in the bottom of the frame but never got closer than runs in the game.

IU Southeast added a run in the sixth when Nolan Rogers singled to bring in Tyler Warmath.

The Grenadiers put the game away with a three-run eighth inning. Back-to-back doubles from Drew Hensley and Richard Rodriguez made it 7-3. A sacrifice fly from Nicholas Lugo added another run and a RBI single from Korbin Williams made it 9-3.

Trevor Reynolds (6-0) worked six and a third innings to get the win. He gave up three runs on seven hits, walked one and struck out three.

With the win, IU Southeast secures a bid to the NAIA Baseball National Tournament. The Opening Round sites will be announced week with the brackets announced the following week.
