Grenadiers Fall To No. 3 St. Thomas 6-1

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The IU Southeast baseball team lost 6-1 to No. 3-ranked and top-seeded St. Thomas (Fla.) on Tuesday.

The Grenadiers (41-13) put runners in scoring position in six of the nine innings but were only able to score once.

IU Southeast tied the game in the bottom of the second when Reyni Olivero singled to right to score Cody Maloon who had doubled.

The Bobcats (54-7) took the lead for good in the fourth when Nick Isquierdo singled to score Oscar Rodriguez.

St. Thomas added a pair of runs in the fifth when Chris Garabedian and Randy Oliva each had RBI singles.

Chris Rodriguez (11-1) worked seven innings and gave up one run on six hits while walking two and striking out eight. Jack Drew (2-2) took the loss for IU Southeast in four innings of work. He gave up two runs, one earned and struck out a pair and walked two.

Nolan Rogers went 2-for-2 in the loss.

IU Southeast will play in the 2:30 p.m. ET game on Wednesday against the winner of LSU-Shreveport and William Carey.
