Grenadiers Get Series Win With 5-2 Victory At West Virginia Tech

BECKLEY, W.Va. – The IU Southeast baseball team earned a series victory over West Virginia Tech with a 5-2 win on Saturday.

The Grenadiers (16-9, 6-3 RSC) scored first in the top of the first inning when Derek Wagner hit a RBI double to left to score Jordan Branz who had reached on a walk.

IU Southeast added a pair of runs in the second to take a comfortable lead. Tyler Mills tripled and John Ullom followed with a two-run inside-the-park home run to center.

In the seventh, the Grenaiders tacked on two more runs to put the game away. After back-to-back doubles by Mills and Ullom, Ben Berenda came through with a two-run single to make it 5-0.

WVU Tech (12-16, 3-6 RSC) got on the board with one run each in the seventh and the eighth but Grant Bradley worked a perfect ninth inning for his first save of the season.

Chas Adams (3-1) worked five no-hit innings to earn his third win of the year. He walked three and struck out five.

Tyler Mills, Brody Tanksley and John Ullom each had two hits and Berenda and Ullom each drove in a pair.

IU Southeast hosts Lindenwood-Belleville Tuesday at 3 p.m
