Men's Tennis Defeats IU East 8-1

NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The men's tennis team took down IU East 8-1 on Wednesday afternoon to clinch the No. 2 seed at the upcoming River States Conference Men's Tennis Tournament.

The Grenadiers came out strong winning all three doubles positions 8-6, 8-4 and 8-4 to take a commanding 3-0 lead. The strong play continued in singles action with the Grenadiers taking all but one singles match to earn the 8-1 victory. Garrett Fensler, Alec Bates and Jerid Inamn all won in straight sets while Brock Winchell and Bradley Cross were able to prevail in three sets.

"I am very proud of the men's team today going out and taking care of business against a good IUE team," head coach Joe Epkey said. "We were picked to finish third in the conference but with our only loss coming to Asbury without our No. 1 player we feel pretty good about our conference season and what the guys have been able to accomplish."

IU Southeast will next be preparing for the River States conference tournament which takes place at the Linder Family Tennis Center in Cincinnati, OH on April 26th and 27th.
