CINCINNATI, Ohio - The IU Southeast men's tennis team defeated IU East 5-1 to advance to the RSC Championship at the Queen City Racquet Club in CIncinnati on Friday.
The Grenadiers (11-10) took a 2-1 play after doubles. Brock Winchell and Bradley Cross defeated Max Faundez and Francisco Perez 8-5 at No.2 doubles and Alec Bates and Jerid Inman earned a 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles. The No. 1 doubles team of Garrett Fensler and T.J. Brady lost a tight decision 9-8 (8) at the No. 1 doubles spot.
IU Southeast earned quick wins at No. 5 and 6 singles to jump out to a 4-1 lead. Jerid Inman defeated Vincente Herrera 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and Alec Bates defeated Ian Dillman 6-0 6-1.
Garrett Fensler clinched the match for IU Southeast with a comeback win over Pablo Munoz 2-6, 6-2, 6-2.
The Grenadiers will face Asbury Saturday in the RSC Championship match which will follow the women's championship that begins at 9 a.m. at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.
