Women's Tennis Falls 6-1 to Asbury

NEW ALBANY, ind. - The IU Southeast women's tennis team suffered its first conference loss of the season 6-1 to Asbury University on Saturday.

The women's tennis team started the match off strong winning the #1 doubles spot 6-2 but were unable to win at #2 or #3 doubles giving Asbury the doubles point. The #3 doubles pairing of Kate Heuchan and Sarah VanIsenberg lost a heartbreaker 7-6 (11-9) at the #3 doubles position.

With Asbury leading 1-0 heading into singles the Grenadiers were only able to win at the #1 singles position, Audrey De WItt lead 5-0 before her opponent retired due to injury which tied the match at 1-1. That would be the only victory for the Grenadiers as Asbury went on to take the remaining 5 singles positions in straight sets.

Katie Weimer had one of the more tightly contested matches before eventually falling 6-2, 7-5 at #4 singles.

The Grenadiers are now 4-1 in conference play and will travel to IU South Bend for a non conference match on April 2nd.
