No. 20 Grenadiers Cruise Past Thomas More 17-6

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The No. 20-ranked IU Southeast baseball team continued its stellar offense play with a 17-6 win over Thomas More on Tuesday.

The Grenadiers (33-13) scored in five of the six innings that they batted and recorded 15 hits.

Clay Woeste opened the scoring with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first for his sixth home run of the year after IU Southeast trailed 2-0 after a half inning.

Later in the inning, John Ullom hit a two-run single to left to score Matt Monahan and Brandon Boxer.

The Grenadiers added three more runs in the second. Clay Woeste doubled and moved to third on a single by Monahan. A passed ball brought in Woeste and Brody Tanksley hit his conference-leading 16th home run of the year to left.

Daunte DeCello brought in a pair of runs in the third when he doubled to left to score Jake Scott and Ben Berenda.

The Grenadiers blew the game open with an eight-run fourth inning after the Saints had scored three runs in the top of the inning. Jake Scott hit a two-run home run to left-center for his fifth home run of the year and DeCello hit another two-run double. He scored on a RBI single by Monahan.

John Ullom capped off the scoring when he hit a three-run home to left, his fifth home run of the season.

Clay Woeste drove in another run in the fifth with a sacrifice fly.

Lane Oestering worked five innings and allowed five runs, four earned on eight hits. He walked one and struck out one.

Jake Scott was 3-for-5 with two runs runs scored and two RBI. John Ullom was 2-for-3 with five RBI and two runs scored. Clay Woeste, Matt Monahan and Daunte DeCello each had two hits and DeCello drove in four.

IU Southeast hosts Midway University on Friday and Sunday.
