NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. -- The 2021 All-River States Conference Women's Tennis Teams & Awards were handed out Thursday night from the Top Seed Tennis Club, the site of the RSC Championship this weekend. The All-RSC First & Second Teams were honored as well as the RSC Champions of Character Team and the big individual award winners. Audrey and Adalyn De Witt capped off stellar freshman campaigns with all-conference honors.
Indiana University Southeast freshman Audrey De Witt was the big individual winner of the night. The native of Fishers, Ind., was named RSC Women's Tennis Player of the Year and RSC Women's Tennis Newcomer of the Year. She racked up a record of 18-1 in singles and 15-4 in doubles for 33-5 overall in her college debut season.
Her sister, Adalyn De Witt, was named to the RSC Second Team in her first season on the squad. Sarah VanIsenberg was the IU Southeast Champion of Character representative.
Joining De Witt on the six-player All-RSC First Team were Camila Caballero and Linda Marino from IU East, Kendall Jablonowski from Asbury (Ky.) University, Gabbie Orlando from Indiana University Kokomo and Hannah Joy Simms from Brescia (Ky.) University.
The six players from the All-RSC Second Team had two from Asbury and two from Midway (Ky.) University and one each from IU Southeast and IU Kokomo. See below for the complete listing of the teams.
Also named was the RSC Women's Tennis Champions of Character Team. One member of each team was nominated by their head coach as the one who best displays the NAIA five core character values of respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship.
Indiana University East was recognized as RSC Regular Season Champions, the first time in team history for the distinction. The Red Wolves were a perfect 8-0 RSC and earned the No. 1 seed in the postseason.
