Box Score 2 NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast baseball team fell 3-1 to Indiana Tech before bouncing back with a 6-1 win in game two of a doubleheader on Tuesday.
In game one, the Warriors opened the scoring with runs in the second and third innings.
With runners at the corners, Tristan Osika got caught in a rundown as he was attempting to steal second and Mike Snyder scored ahead of the tag.
In the third inning, Micah O'Donnell reached on fielder's choice and Jayden Reed scored from third to make it 2-0.
The Warriors added on to their lead in the fifth inning when Manuel Ascanio hit a sacrifice fly.
IU Southeast got on the board in the bottom of the inning when Trevor Campbell doubled to bring in Clay Woeste.
The Grenadiers had their chances for big rallies but could not convert, leaving nine runners on base. The middle of the batting order was 0-for-10 in the game.
The top two batters in the lineup, Clay Woeste and Trevor Campbell set the table well for the offense as each had three hits in the game but only Woeste scored a run.
In game two, Brody Tanksley hit a two-run home run to left-center, his seventh of the season to put the Grenadiers on the board first.
Brandon Boxer followed in the second inning with a solo home run, his first of the season.
After the Warriors scored in the fifth, the Grenadier offense answered back in the bottom of the frame. With Boxer at third and Woeste at second, Campbell drove them in with a base hit off the glove of the third baseman.
Brandon Boxer drove in the sixth run of the with a single to short to knock in Tyler Mills.
The Grenadier pitching staff allowed just one run on four hits in the contest. Cade Reynolds started the game and worked two innings, allowing just one hit and a walk while striking out a batter. Gavin Knust allowed one hit in one and two-thirds innings of relief.
Brody Tanksley and Brandon Boxer each had two hits and drove in two.
IU Southeast hosts Ohio Christian this weekend.
