Box Score OAKLAND CITY, Ind. – The No. 17-ranked IU Southeast baseball team took a late lead but could not hang on, falling 10-9 in 11 innings to Oakland City Saturday.
A two-run double by Marco Romero opened the scoring in the top of the first for IU Southeast.
But the Mighty Oaks answered back with a RBI double and RBI single to tie the game in the bottom of the first.
Oakland City took the lead with a three-run second inning when Chandler Dunn and Austin Morris each hit home runs in the inning.
With the deficit at 7-3 in the sixth, the Grenadiers got back in the contest with three runs in the inning.
After three Grenadiers were hit by pitches, Ray Aponte cleared the bases with a double.
Oakland City got a run back in the bottom of the inning but the Grenadiers were able to rally and tie the game in the eighth.
Marco Romero hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Trevor Campbell who had singled and moved to third on a single by Brody Tanksley.
Daunte DeCello scored on a throwing error to tie the game.
The contest would remain tied until the 11th inning when Ben Berenda doubled and John Ullom followed with a RBI double for the go-ahead run.
With Ullom at second with one out, the Grenadier offense stalled and they could not add on.
In the bottom of the inning, Treven Madden homered to tie the game. After a walk, Treven Madden doubled to drive in Payton Hall and win it for the Mighty Oaks.
Brandon Boxer had three hits in the loss.
