NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast softball team saw nine players named to the River States All-Conference Teams.
The Grenadiers saw five players named to the All-Conference First Team: P
Emma Davis, C
Lillian Mackey, INF
Kaitlyn Leister, OF
Sofia Guy, and
Josie Lemmons, who earned an At-Large selection.
Emma Davis went 13-5 with a 2.85 ERA and 15 complete games in the regular season. Davis threw 120.1 innings, striking out 80 batters.
Lillian Mackey played in 35 games, hitting an even .400 with a home run and 36 RBI. Mackey had 44 hits, 11 of which went for extra bases (10 doubles and 1 home run).
Kaitlyn Leister played all 40 games at third base, hitting .417 with 22 RBI. Leister had 53 hits which included 11 doubles and a triple.
Sofia Guy played all 40 games in the outfield, the majority of which were in center. Hitting primarily as the cleanup hitter, Guy hit .385 with two home runs and 33 RBI. Guy had 50 hits with a team-high 16 extra-base hits (two home runs, 12 doubles, and two triples.). Guy also stole 10 bases in 11 attempts.
Josie Lemmons started all 40 games in the leadoff spot for IU Southeast. Lemmons hit .438 with 18 RBI and led the team with 60 hits, which includes six doubles and a triple. Lemmons set the IU Southeast single-season record with 49 runs scored and stole 23 bases in 24 attempts.
Three Grenadiers were named All-RSC Second Team: P
Hannah Nunemaker, INF
McKenzie Walters, and OF
Brynlea Bennett.
Hannah Nunemaker went 8-4 in 14 appearances (12 starts) with a 1.94 ERA. The senior threw 10 complete games, four of which were shutouts. Nunemaker struck out 44 batters in 79.1 innings. At the plate, Nunemaker went 4-16 with a home run and a triple.
McKenzie Walters played all 40 games at first base. Walters hit .348 with 25 RBI and had a team-high 14 doubles.
Brynlea Bennett played in 34 games, hitting .292 with 22 RBI. Bennett had 35 hits, which included three doubles and six triples.
INF
Alaina Winzeler earned All-Conference Third Team Honors. Winzeler played 38 games, taking over at second base early in the season. Winzeler hit .278 with two home runs and 23 RBI. Winzeler also had five doubles and went a perfect 12 for 12 in stolen base attempts.
